ProLok Socket System for Wire Rope

The ProLok Wire Rope Socket System features ABL’s revolutionary ProLok socket for attaching wire rope to dragline drums and bucket rigging. Patented and manufactured exclusively by ABL, the ProLok socket system is a safer and more efficient means of socketing wire rope. Unlike conventional wire rope sockets, the ProLok socket does not require the rope to be wrapped around a heavy steel wedge. This reduces the length of rope required for socketing and eliminates the dangerous stored energy developed by looping the rope around a conventional rope wedge. In addition, the rope can be easily removed from the ProLok socket without the hammering which is required to extract a conventional wedge when releasing rope. ProLok sockets typically weigh 30%-70% less than their conventional counterparts. The reduced weight of the sockets has been proven to extend rope life and reduce the overall suspended weight of bucket rigging. Available for dragline dump ropes, drag ropes, and dragline drums, each system is specifically engineered for the particular application and custom built to attach to the customer’s existing rigging/drums. When used on dragline drums, the ProLok sockets eliminate the cumbersome and heavy OEM rope clamps and significantly reduce the time to change ropes while improving the safety aspects of the rope change process.

Benefits of the ABL ProLok Wire Rope Socket System:

  • Safer
  • Faster
  • Lighter
  • Requires less rope
  • Extends rope life
